I built this dinghy with more passion than sense, but it floated! Now, all I needed was a way to get it to the water, so I cooked up a simple solution using our cargo-carrier, old futon-frame lumber, and some bike scraps I had lying around. We got a lot of curious looks, but we had an adventure on both land and sea that day.

This was the last real bit of road I rode on during a seven month tour in South America. The bike is an Independent Fabrication Steel Independence built with the geometry to accommodate 26″ wheels rather than 700cc wheels.  I had it build this way with this road specifically in mind. The Carretera Austral is slowly but surely being paved and I don’t even know how much there is left now that looks like this anymore.

Bansai! after a long drive we arrived in Beppu Oita Ken its to far from my home Yamaguchi Ken….but i enjoy  a lot!!!!

It was unforgettable. Siberia is a country one cannot forget! Enormous distances, unspoiled wilderness, drinkable water from the lake, just enough people, so that you can feel safe. People there say riding a mountain bike in winter on a 1,5 m deep ice is a fantastic experience. My husband and I wanted to try it once! Aug. 2008.
